It’s been several weeks since we delved into the logistics of social media network management. As such, I thought we’d reignite the series with a quick “how to” on uploading videos to your YouTube channel.
First things first: if you haven’t already created a YouTube channel, you can set one up in a matter of minutes. Go to YouTube.com and click “Create an Account.” The page you see below will pop up, at which point you simply have to follow the prompts to create your page. NOTE: If you are creating the page for your business, I recommend creating a unsername to reflect the connection i.e. “Three Ships Media Team Video Page.”
Next step: Go to your channel page (see below for my personal YouTube channel). From here, if you want to upload a new video, just click the “Upload” link on the top tool bar (see image below), which will take you to a step-by-step upload page.
Once the video has been uploaded, you can assign any number of personalized tags to help it rank highly in search. For instance, if you are a wealth management firm and your CEO just delivered a phenomenal speech on the strength of the stock market heading into Q2, tags could include “stock market health,” “2010 market projections,” and “wealth management advice.”
Lastly, I highly recommend that the videos you post be “Public” instead of “Private” – this way, a larger swath of Internet users will be able to find your content, as opposed to a pre-approved group that has likely already bought into your brand.
Any questions? - feel free to drop me a line.
