Sage Start-Up Advice From Meebo CEO Seth Sternberg

by admin on September 22, 2009

Meebo CEO Seth Sternberg recently published an article on start-ups and venture capital, the first in a series of articles on entrepreneurship.

The crux of this first post is the concept that start-ups don’t require venture capital, nor do they need to waste time and energy seeking it out, in order to be successful.  Start-ups need to create a product, get it out in the marketplace, and be prepared to adapt and improve it accordingly. Let your talent and customers grow your business, not the VC.

New companies need only ensure they have:

1)      a talented, diverse, and synergistic founding team;

2)      marketplace value created via worthwhile production creation; and

3)      trusted mentors.

Three Ships Media:

1)      Check;

2)      Check (fingers crossed…);

3)      Check (on the heels of Sunday’s meeting, we’re more confident of this now than ever)

Great, great advice from someone who knows what he is talking about.  We’re looking forward to the forthcoming articles.
