About the Research Council

The Emerging Media Research Council offers best practice studies and other helpful information to keep members current on how emerging media are affecting marketing and political messaging.

Members of the Council:

  • Collectively choose the Best Practice Research Studies that the Emerging Media Council prepares six times a year on a proprietary basis.
  • Help shape the studies by recommending and participating in interviews.
  • Attend quarterly breakfast sessions in Washington, DC, for presentations on the latest trends and innovations in emerging media.
  • Have password-protected access to the Council’s Member Section, where the research papers are archived along with all interviews and proprietary data used to prepare them.  The page will also serve as a "bulletin board" for communications among Council members to share their needs and innovations.
  • Have the individual opportunity (on a separate contracted basis) to engage the Research Council staff in its own proprietary research.
  • Recieve a thought-provoking weekly email on emerging media trends
  • Join a select group of 200 media, political, and business experts who participate in a monthly survey on emerging media practices.

Members of the Research Council will inevitably find the research helpful in making decisions on their own communications and marketing practices, but the Council’s purpose goes well beyond that service.  All forms of communication in this attention-clutter world – from marketing, to news, to politics, to the simplest social interaction – are changing more rapidly than anyone can keep pace.

That is exciting, frustrating, confusing.  And for those seeking truth, more than a little frightening.

We hope that the Emerging Media Research Council can play a role in providing some responsible and reassuring standards for finding and communicating truth among the noise.  Perhaps it can help set some standards that can help us know both who to trust and how to earn that trust.

Goals of the Council:

  • Inform members of important changes and developments in emerging media.
  • Lead the industry toward best practices for all stakeholders.
  • Guide members toward best practices in using and interacting with emerging media.
  • Facilitate collaborative advancement through knowledge sharing among members.
