Friday FaceOff: Naked Pizza Delivers Social Media Results

A small business relies on a positive reputation, a quality product and a personal touch to maintain its customer base.  Naked Pizza is an excellent example of how a small business’ strategy can boost its sales by engaging in social media.  After implementing a social media-based marketing strategy, Naked Pizza was able to see substantial growth in its customer base and its sales.

For example, on a great day, the company achieved the following results, (data from social media consultant Jacob Morgan):

  • 68.60% of  total dollar sales came from customers who said they are “calling from twitter”
  • 31.40% of customers did not mention twitter
  • 41% of total tickets were from twitter customers
  • of the 26 new customers, 22 (85%) were from twitter

Naked Pizza is a very specialized pizzeria and provides a unique twist to an old favorite food.  Its mission of building a healthy lifestyle through eating cuisine rich in natural ingredients is indicative in their menu, which features a slew of options to create a “healthy” pizza.

Co-Founders Jeff and Randy go as far as to say “Rethinking the food supply - from plough to plate – is our generations civil rights movement.”  Jeff and Randy convey these thoughts and other personal aspects of Naked Pizza through their blog.  Jeff and Randy clearly understand the importance of a highly sophisticated branding effort through a customizable web hub.  In fact, the mere attention I have given them by writing this post shows the reach of their message, and I would be sure to stop by whenever I visit the French Quarter.
