Google Voice Now Mobile

by admin on January 27, 2010

Yesterday I wrote a quick post on the potential benefits of Google Voice for today’s small business owners. On top of being intuitive, free, and comprehensive – from voicemail transcription to call forwarding – it’s a great tool for tracking the impact a small business social media marketing program has on inbound busniess leads.

And now, it’s entirely mobile.

Despite past head-butting between Google and Apple, Techcrunch reports that the iPhone (and Palm Pre/Pixi) will now be available with http://m.google.com/voice.  Logistically, this simply means that small business owners who route their contact information through a Google Voice number, and who rely on Google Voice to track the source of their inbound leads, can now do so on the run.

This is an important development as it reveals that the Google Voice application is ambitious in keeping up with market trends i.e. the transition to mobile web applications (see: Small Business Marketing Should Go Mobile). Were you hesitant about the adaptability of Google Voice and reluctant to explore its utility as a result, you can put those fears to rest.  Again, I recommend GVoice as great way to streamline and simplify your phone system, engage on a more genuine level with inbound customers, and track the impact of your behavior online.

And now you can do it from anywhere.
