Life at TSM
Our paramount goal is to make Three Ships a magnet for talent.
Why? Talent creates opportunity. Talent attracts talent. And talent is the #1 one reason we’re able to deliver extreme value to our clients.
How? We’re working — together — to build an environment where world-class creative and analytical talent can work opposite each other. We’ve shaped values together. We have a monthly meeting specifically focused on culture. And we’re obsessed with finding, and hiring, the best.
Life at Three Ships
No day is ever exactly the same around here, but here’s a sample of recent activities that give you a flavor of life here:
- Three Ships University. Sailors at Three Ships are hungry to build new capabilities. ”Three Ships U” offers seminars on business fundamentals, new trends and tools in digital, and functional skills like sales-training. Whether it’s grabbing a book from the company library (take your pick… hard copy, Kindle, iPad) or catching a session on new attribution modeling techniques, learning is our great passion.
- Morning huddles. Most teams do a 5 minute morning to cover daily priorities, uncover roadblocks, and report out results. To make rapid progress on client goals, there’s a high level of accountability at Three Ships. These meetings secure alignment among the team.
- Monthly open meetings. The first Monday of each month, our entire crew assembles for lunch, a briefing on the state of the company, and open Q&A with the CEO and President. The questions back-and-forth are hard-hitting. The level of candor is high.
- Tuesday team dinner. Each Tuesday night, we host an office dinner. With the team working hard, it’s nice to take a few minutes, pull up, and connect with others from across the team.
- Columbus Day. We love explorers at Three Ships Media. Whether its Magellan, Shackleton, Vespucci, or good old Christopher Columbus, we’re in awe of the great explorers’ daring. On Columbus Day, we do a company celebration — partly to reflect on our values and direction, partly to celebrate and just have fun.
- Excursions. Keeping in the vain of exploring, our team takes monthly excursions to try new things. Whether is a tour of a local brewery, dominating the rest of the bar at trivia, going to see a great band, or having after hours dessert at a local restaurant – because we work hard, we play hard.
- Lots of feedback. We set a high bar for performance, and we recognize excellence across the team. When a teammate hasn’t delivered, we quickly offer constructive criticism. High performing people like to know where they stand, and everyone at Three Ships is relentlessly thinking about how to improve.
- Office hours. At least a few times each week a member of the executive team holds office hours. Shipmates use that time to get advice on professional development, build domain expertise, and interact with senior leaders in the company.
