Bizmore: A Social Media Resource for Small Businesses

by admin on November 24, 2009

Small businesses owners can benefit from Bizmore, a social media destination where they can ask questions of peers and read advice from experts about a range of problems they may encounter.  Bizmore just added a collection of eight blogs to its existing forums that provide practical information about pressing concerns of small business owners.

The home page has a running feed of questions community members are posing, and the responses are informative and virtually free from spam.  The eight blogs cover topics from management to finances to social media outreach.  They are written by consultants and other experts with actual experience in their chosen subject area.

Here are three articles I found particularly useful and interesting.

“How to Manage the Family Brain Trust” profiles a family-run luxury clothing line based in the Northeast and how the two brothers who own it have integrated other family members into the business successfully.

“How to Choose and Execute the Right Exit Strategy” sets out useful planning guides for several different scenarios where a leader is transitioning out of a company.  This article is indicative of the strengths of Bizmore, which combines several perspectives and situational analyses to give a clear overview of the risks and rewards in specific business cases.

“What’s the Best Piece of Business Advice You Ever Received?” is a great example of the forum value Bizmore provides.  The consultants who write the initial pieces offer framing thoughts that members of the Bizmore community then comment on and flesh out.

Overall, I think Bizmore should become a part of a small business’ online activities because of the breadth of content and the interactive nature of the posts.  Also, I’m a big fan of the site because of the way it blends social aspects with content delivery.  I think communities such as this one will become more and more common as people begin to see the industry value they create.
